Purple

I am growing roses in my mind - I think they will be purple
Purple, the colour of women
Women who must be strong in a wild world and smile at the odds
Odds so often against us
Roses in my mind grown from the ashes of my pain
Pain once thought too heavy to bear
Bear it now with serenity and grace and a smile
Smile because I am strong
Love is a dream so hard to capture in the bright light of day
Day brings an awareness
Awareness that strength and serenity come from deep within
Within the breast of woman
I am growing roses in my mind - yes, they will be purple
Purple, the colour of hope
Hope for a new me who will not compromise my spirit
Spirit soaring on a smile

Keep writing

I sit in my house, feeling quite cold My memory so clear but nothing resolved I think of my life, my precious childhood Remember what happened when I was involved I learned how to swim, ride a bike and run Write poems and stories and read so much Rode horses, loved sheep, kept lots of mice Loved cats and dogs which I just wanted to touch It’s far far away, I’ve lost some memory But writing is now, it’s me in recovery I can think of my future and write all my thoughts Ride a bike, love cats and dogs, climb up a tree Just go for a drive, keep loving the country Walk by a stream or climb up a hill I’m at the top, I’m feeling I’m good This feeling is mine, my perfect free will So to keep me warm I must keep on writing Poems, short stories, a novel or two Writing is my future, my every day To all those who read, thank you, thank you!

A Visit from the Aneurysm Angel

I'm not a huge christmas fan, but I loved to write a poem about my aneurysm at christmas time. (Clement Clarke Moore wrote originally about Santa.) 'Twas the night before Christmas, all aside from the aneurysm Not a creature was stirring and no one had rheumatism. The stockings were hung - although most didn't exist (In hopes that trees would be added on, but mostly were missed). The children were nestled, all snug in their beds, While visions of Santa danced round in their heads. With me in my nightie, alone with no kids, I'd just settled my aneurysm for a long nap without skids, When out on the lawn there arose such a noise - I sprang from my bed to see who had the voice.
