Pigs, Wolves and Hood

Have you read the Three Little Pigs in your childhood? How about Red Riding Hood? You know, of course (don't you?) that they have been around for years. Roald Dahl and Jon Scieszca knew the real tales, and the're available on You Tube or published. Have a look at the You Tube videos The True Story of the Three Little Pigs or Revolting Rhymes - Three Little Pigs. Or look up the real books in Penguin Random House or in Angus & Robertson

I wrote a ... sort of ... review of these books. Enjoy!

Wolf vs the Pigs – and Red Riding Hood
@ Louisa Reid

When Jon wrote the tale of wolf vs pigs
The teller told of himself
Who was, as he said,
A hero and kind (*cough cough*)
You can meet him from your bookshelf!

In this tale he said he would sneeze
Which, we now know, let him down
If you’ve ever sneezed
Then maybe you would know
That sneeze became his breakdown

He couldn’t trap the pigs while he sneezed at them
He tried to break into their homes
His sneeze got him caught
The cops took him to jail
And he told his tale from his tome

The other tale, told by Dahl, was narrated
By a person who wasn’t involved
S/he told of the wolf
And the pigs and the Hood
And s/he would end up with it solved

Red Riding Hood was not the one we knew
An innocent young child in the wood
In this tale she planned
And got what she wanted
And her new handbags were so good!

The wolf’s own tale was from a real bad guy
And this one was from who used to be
So good, compared to him
And not in this tale
From the pigs and the wolf she was free!

If you like Hood’s new up-to-date being
And if you like how she plays in this tale
Then Dahl’s told it better
He knows who now lives
And the winner is a female!
